In Our Midst

You've infiltrated a spaceship and disguised yourself as one of the crew. Now it's time to eliminate the rest of them! In Our Midst is a homage to a certain popular multiplayer game, but now in classic 2D point-and-click adventure game form.

Controls: Left click (or tap) on an object to use it, or left click on the elsewhere to walk there. Click the backpack in the top-left of the screen to show or hide any items you pick up. Click on an item to equip it. With an item equipped you can use it on objects or other items, or place it back in the inventory by clicking on the backpack icon again. Once in game the options can be brought up using the Options 'cog' button in the top-right of the screen. You can use this to change the volume and to save or load your game.

Running the game (web version): Click the link above to play the web version of the game. This can be played on mobiles and tablets but it is recommended you play on a desktop or laptop computer as touch screen controls may be a little fiddly. If you have problems with the web version I recommend trying the downloadable version instead.

Running the game (downloadable version): The downloadable version of the game runs natively on Windows. It is also playable in newer versions of ScummVM, which can be used to play on other platforms such as Mac and Linux. When running the downloadable version on Windows use WinSetup.exe to configure your graphics and sound options. If you have trouble getting the  game to run try changing these settings first.

About the game: The game was created using the free Adventure Game Studio program (https://adventuregamestudio.co.uk). Originally it was designed as an entry for the September 2022 Monthly Adventure Game Studio (MAGS) competition with the topic "Sometimes Evil Wins". While most of the puzzles were designed and about half of the artwork was completed, time pressures led to the game being put on hold with the intention of finishing it later outside of the competition deadline. Nothing further was done on the game until MAGS April 2024 when the first version of the game was released following another month of work under the "Finish your MAGS game" theme.

This version of the game is the initial MAGS release and has a few known quirks that will be fixed in a later version. If you find any bugs or have any comments please let me know!
